LEAPS - the League of European Accelerator-based Photon Sources - is a strategic consortium initiated by the Directors of the Synchrotron Radiation and Free Electron Laser (FEL) user facilities in Europe. Its primary goal is to actively and constructively ensure and promote the quality and impact of the fundamental, applied and industrial research carried out at their respective facility to the greater benefit of European science and society.

LEAPS holds its first Plenary Meeting

22 November 2018

On 12th and 13th November, the League of European Accelerator-based Photon Sources (LEAPS) has celebrated the first Plenary Meeting, where 13 pilot research projects have been presented by the spokespersons of the different collaborations. Philippe Froissard (EU) and representatives from national funding agencies also contributed to explore different possibilities for funding common research projects.

Presentation of LEAPS Strategy 2030

Dr. Caterina Biscari, Director of the ALBA Synchrotron in Spain and Vice Chair of LEAPS, League of European Accelerator-based Photon Sources, presented the LEAPS Strategy 2030 to Jean-David Malo, Director, Directorate General Research and Innovation, European Commission.

LEAPS Launch Event

13 November 2017

At the LEAPS launch event in Brussels on November 13, 2017 16 organisations representing 19 light sources facilities across Europe signed an agreement to strengthen their collaboration. The event was attended by Robert-Jan Smits, Director General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission, and Giorgio Rossi, Chair of the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI).
