The LEAPS Meets Advanced Materials for Energy Conference 2025 was held at the Sopot Marriott Resort & Spa, from 18th to 23rd May 2025. The event was organised by the National Synchrotron Radiation Centre SOLARIS as part of the LEAPS consortium. This prestigious, LEAPS biennial event brought together around 80 participants from both academia and industry. LEAPS serves as a platform for the exchange of knowledge on the latest advances in advanced materials for energy applications.

The main objective of the conference was to strengthen dialogue between the scientific community and industry, with a particular focus on sustainable development and innovation in renewable energy. The central theme focused on the use of synchrotron radiation and lasers to study advanced energy materials, such as fuel cells, next-generation batteries, hydrogen storage materials, and photovoltaic components.

The scientific programme was composed of nine thematic blocks. At the end of each day, participants had the opportunity to take part in a discussion panel, which allowed for extended Q&A sessions, in-depth exploration of the topics discussed, and direct engagement with the speakers.

The conference talks covered topics including solar energy conversion and storage, the role of synchrotron research in the commercialisation of photovoltaic technologies, visions for a hydrogen economy, and modern analytical methods for materials used in the nuclear industry.

The programme also included two poster sessions, one of which was dedicated to students taking part in the conference. The posters prepared by Meryem Ennaji and Bartłomiej Lemieszek were selected by the conference jury as the winners of the conference poster session.

The LEAPS Meets Advanced Materials for Energy 2025 conference demonstrated that the future of energy lies in interdisciplinary collaboration and the application of cutting-edge research technologies. The event provided a unique platform for strengthening partnerships between science and industry, promoting European and global innovations in sustainable energy development. Events of this kind offer not only a chance to showcase breakthrough research but also a concrete step towards a greener future for Europe.
